You are a little more than half way through the semester, and this is the time of year things seem to speed up. Thanksgiving is just about here, and the Holiday Season is right around the corner! It's time to begin planning for Winter Break and next semester.

UPDATING YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION FOR SPRING 2014
As you get ready for the Spring semester, please make sure to update your contact information in MyHousing. Student Housing & Residential Life requires you to have two Emergency Contacts on file and a best contact number so we can reach you while you are on campus.
To update your information:
*log into your MyCSUMB dashboard
*choose MyHousing from your “links”
*Click the button on the right to access MyHousing
*Click on Personal Preferences in the left side Navigation box
*Select Spring 2014 from the dropdown
*Update your information in the fields below
WINTER BREAK WILL BE DECEMBER 21, 2013 - JANUARY 16, 2014
All Residence Halls and North Quad buildings will be open during Winter Break, but you must register with our office in order to stay. If you are continuing as a full-time student at Cal State Monterey Bay for the Spring 2014 semester, and will be living in the Residence Halls or North Quad, there will be no additional housing fees for Winter Break housing. For safety and security reasons, you will need to sign up with our office if you plan on staying in your space at ANY time between December 21, 2013 and January 16, 2014. Sign up in the office Student Housing & Residential Life office, located in the Student Center building, or complete the online form using the link below, no later than Friday, December 13, 2013.

If you are not staying during break, you can move back into your room as early as Friday, January 17, 2014. Although you do not need to remove all of your belongings from your room during Winter Break, you are encouraged to take your valuable items with you during the break period. Please do not forget your keys or your Otter ID card!
YOU MAY GET A NEW ROOMMATE/SUITE-MATE/APARTMENT-MATE
If you are leaving for Winter Break and have space(s) available in your room/suite/apartment, your RA will be inspecting the space to make sure it is ready for a new resident during the week of December 15, 2013 – December 21, 2013. Failure to prepare your room for the possibility of a new roommate may result in the revocation of your License Agreement and/or additional charges.
FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION
Effective Spring 2014, the Financial Aid Office will implement a new payment extension process. As a result, students must plan ahead and establish a clear understanding of their Spring 2014 Financial Aid award. To better assist all students, the Financial Aid Office encourages all students to compare their Spring 2014 Financial Aid Award vs. Spring 2014 housing AND tuition fee charges.
If your Spring 2014 Financial Aid Award is not enough to cover your housing AND tuition fee balance, please visit the Financial Aid Office for more information.
IF YOU ARE NOT RETURNING TO CAL STATE UNIVERSITY MONTEREY BAY
Only students who are not returning to CSUMB are eligible to submit a request to break their Student Housing Academic Year License. In order to break your 2013/2014 Student Housing Academic Year License, you are required to submit a License Cancellation Form, which is available in the Student Housing & Residential Life office, located in the Student Center. The form must be turned in no later than Friday, November 29, 2013.
When you submit your form, you will need to sign-up for a time where a staff member will check you out of your on-campus space. Appointments will be available every 30 minutes between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm, December 16-20, 2013, or between 8:00 am and 11:40 am on December 21, 2013. You must check-out of your room no later than 12:00 pm on Saturday, December 21, 2013. Failure to sign-up, properly check-out, or not submitting a License Cancellation Form, will result in additional charges.
If you change your mind about returning to the University for the Spring 2014 semester, and need to check-out after December 21, 2013, you will be charged a daily rate for occupying the room during the Winter break, according to the building and type of room that you occupy. If you are not leaving the University, you may not request to break your 2013/2014 Student Housing Academic Year License. This is in accordance to the terms you agreed to upon move in.
RESERVATION DAYS 2014
Reservation Days is a process where current residents lock in their housing rate by reserving a space for the upcoming academic year. Reservation Days allows students to select the space they want to live in for the next Academic Year. Applications will open January 31, 2014.
