Substance Free Housing
Substance Free Housing offers an additional measure of support to those students who choose not to drink, smoke, or use drugs. Students in Substance Free Housing sign an agreement to keep their room and hall free from substances at all times.
Substance Free Housing is available in the Residence Halls, for Freshman, and on the fourth floor of Vineyard Suites for upper division students. For additional information please contact Student Housing & Residential Life at (831) 582-3378, or e-mail us at student_housing@csumb.edu

Project Higher Ground
In Project Higher Ground, you will become a member of a dynamic learning community of students, staff, and faculty. You’ll live in the same residence hall with a group of students who will take at least two courses together. Special activities like field trips, dialogue groups, feed-a-faculty dinners, and film festivals will enhance your learning. In addition to the faculty, your Residence Advisors and Peer Mentor will coordinate your co-curricular activities to integrate your coursework with your campus and community experiences. We think this is a unique way to make friends, enhance your learning, and get a great start on your CSUMB experience.

Education Community - The Call to Teach
The Education Living Learning Community is especially designed for those majoring in Liberal Studies or planning on eventually teaching at the high school level or in special education classrooms. As a member of this Living Learning Community, you will have an opportunity to explore various facets of education while living and learning with others with similar passions and commitments. Community members will take a linked section of FYS100 and LS298S, which together satisfy University and Community Participation requirements and begin to lay a solid foundation for powerfully responding to “the call to teach.”
International Community
Fostering the intra-cultural respect and understanding, the growing of cross borders lifelong friendships, and leadership skills for the promotion of a more tolerant and peaceful world, the international floor, hosted in the Pinnacles Suites, provides international, National Student Exchange (NSE), and all interested students with an opportunity to live and learn together in a supportive community. In our increasingly global society, the ability to understand other cultures-and one's own culture through other's perspectives-is crucial to meeting the challenges of an ever-shrinking, interdependent world.
